What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga ("contact combat" in Hebrew) is an Israeli self-defence system which is considered to be the most effective self-defence system in the world.
In Krav Maga, we teach students to react to a sudden and violent attack under stress or after a shock (dizziness following a blow,...)
With this discipline, we want to offer practitioners the best chance to survive in a critical situation and enable them to defend any persons accompanying them.
It is essential for us to ensure our own protection and that of others.
Why is Krav Maga so effective?
If the effectiveness of Krav Maga remains unmatched, it is because it is designed to deal with real life threats and it is constantly evolving. It provides defence techniques both to react to strangulations or direct blows, and to knife, stick or gun attacks. It also allows to cope with multiple attackers simultaneously, as is often the case in a street attack.
To prepare us as realistically as possible, we train with some plausible real life scenarios, in everyday environments, so that training often takes place outside, on stairways, in car parks, in alleys, in vehicles... In short, anywhere where an attack could easily take place. This gives students an appreciation of the differences in environment, light, sound, soil surfaces and the like, to be better prepared for any conflict situation.
Be aware of yourself
But basically, Krav Maga hopes to teach students how to avoid a violent confrontation. Although Krav Maga teaches explosive combat and defensive skills, it also teaches the practitioners to be aware of themselves and their environment in order to avoid any confrontation that may be dangerous, or even fatal as much as possible.
Krav Maga is easy to learn
Very important, Krav Maga is easy to learn because it uses a person's natural reflexes and reactions. Students of all levels with no combat experience can progress pretty quickly and thus feel able to handle most basic scenarios. In addition, Krav Maga also improves physical fitness and endurance.
Krav Maga is accessible to all - children, women, adults, even the elderly - because it teaches the basics of security and self-defense and targets the vulnerable areas of an attacker. While it is accessible to all, it remains known for its effectiveness in the SWAT units (where a more aggressive and powerful approach may be necessary), in military areas, for law enforcement, as well as close protection.
